2000 1c Cheerios Cent ANACS MS67RED

$300.00

The “2000 Cheerios” Lincoln cent is a promotional coin distributed by General Mills in boxes of Cheerios cereal as part of a marketing campaign to promote the then-new Sacagawea gold dollar. In addition to the cent, 5,500 boxes of Cheerios included a Sacagawea dollar, while 10 million boxes included the cent. These coins were part of a promotional program with the US Mint, with the first 10 million 2000-dated Lincoln Cents and 5,500 of the new Sacagawea Dollars being sent to General Mills.

The story is that the US Mint partnered with General Mills to promote the newly designed gold dollar. They distributed 10 million boxes of Cheerios each containing a 2000 penny and 5,500 boxes with a Sacagawea dollar. This marketing campaign aimed to create awareness about the new coin before its official release.

Here we are offering a Superb Gem example with fiery red color. I just looked online and saw some MS68RD coins selling for thousands and thousands of dollars.
